Govt asks customs to permit export of rice consignments with restricted amount of damaged rice

With rice export consignments being held up at ports on account of presence of restricted amount of damaged rice, the commerce ministry has requested customs officers to clear such shipments as per grading guidelines of the foodgrain. The federal government imposed a ban on the export of damaged rice with impact from September 9 to extend home availability.

In a commerce discover on Wednesday, the Directorate Basic of Overseas Commerce (DGFT) mentioned that representations have been obtained from commerce and business looking for consideration in the direction of the issues being confronted by exporters in clearing the consignments of different classes of rice on account of presence of sure content material of damaged rice within the mentioned consignments.
