The federal government has restricted the imports of sure waste and scrap of treasured metallic or of metallic clad with treasured metallic. Their imports had been free earlier.

The Directorate Basic of International Commerce amended the import coverage for ash containing treasured metallic or treasured metallic compounds together with gold, platinum and silver to “restricted” from “free” which suggests a license can be required for his or her inbound shipments.

“Import coverage…has been revised from ‘Free’ to ‘Restricted’ with rapid impact,” the DGFT mentioned in a notification.

India’s imports of those items in April-February FY22 had been $36.6 million as in opposition to $72 million in all the 2020-21.
