sugar exports: India fixes sugar exports quota at 5,841 tn for EU

New Delhi, India on Friday notified sugar exports of 5,841 tonnes to the European Union beneath the tariff-rate quota (TRQ) scheme for 2023-24 (October 2023 to September 2024). TRQ is a quota for a quantity of exports that enters the European Union (EU) with comparatively low tariffs. After the quota reaches its restrict, the next tariff is relevant to further shipments.

“The Director Normal of Overseas Commerce hereby allocates amount of 5,841 MT for export of sugar to EU from India beneath TRQ for the 12 months 2023-24 (October 2023 to September 2024),” an official notification stated.

It stated {that a} Certificates of Origin, if required, for preferential export of sugar to EU, shall be issued by the Further Director Normal of Overseas Commerce, Mumbai on the advice of APEDA concerning the entity and amount for which it’s eligible.

The quota will likely be operated by the Agriculture and Processed Meals Merchandise Export Growth Authority (APEDA) because the implementing company for the export of TRQ objects to the EU.

“The amount of 5841 MT sugar to be exported to EU from India beneath TRQ for the 12 months 2023-24 (October 2023 to September 2024) has been notified,” it added.
