Authorities says sure onion consignments could be exported until November 30

The federal government on Thursday clarified onion consignments which were handed over to the customs authorities and are registered of their techniques earlier than October 29 could be exported until November 30. On October 28, the federal government imposed a minimal export value (MEP) of USD 800 per tonne on onion exports until December 31 this 12 months with a view to extend availability of the vegetable within the home market and to comprise costs.

“The place onion consignment has been handed over to the customs earlier than October 29, 2023… and is registered of their system/ the place onions consignment has entered the customs station for exportation earlier than this notification and is registered within the digital techniques of the involved custodian of the customs station with verifiable proof of date and time stamping of those commodities having entered the station previous to October 29.

“The interval of export shall be as much as November 30 this 12 months,” the Directorate Basic of Overseas Commerce (DGFT) mentioned.

It added that the export responsibility paid earlier than issuance of this notification wouldn’t be refunded.
