As many as 7.76 crore tax returns for earnings earned in 2022-23 have been filed until December 2 and extra are anticipated to be filed by this month finish, Parliament was knowledgeable on Monday. In 2022-23 monetary yr, 10.09 crore PAN holders paid taxes for earnings earned in 2021-22.
“For the corresponding interval, 7.76 crore returns have been filed until December 2, 2023, and extra returns are anticipated to be filed until the final date, i.e. December 31, 2023,” Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary stated in a written reply within the Lok Sabha.
The final date for submitting earnings tax returns (ITRs) for earnings earned in 2022-23 was July 31, 2023. Assessees who want to file return after the due date can achieve this by December 31 upon fee of a penalty.
The whole web direct tax assortment throughout 2022-23 is Rs 16.63 lakh crore out of which earnings tax assortment is Rs 8.08 lakh crore.
