Capex on Nationwide Highways elevated from Rs 51,000 cr in FY14 to Rs 2,40,000 cr in FY23, Parliament instructed

New Delhi: Capital expenditure on Nationwide Highways has seen a big improve from about Rs 51,000 crore in 2013-14 to greater than Rs 2,40,000 crore in 2022-23, Parliament was knowledgeable on Thursday. In a written reply to a query within the Lok Sabha, Union Highway Transport and Highways minister Nitin Gadkari mentioned budgetary allocation of the street ministry has elevated from about Rs 31,130 crore in 2013-14 to Rs 2,70,435 crore in 2023-24.

Such elevated budgetary allocation led to growth of the Nationwide Freeway (NH) community within the nation from about 91,287 km in March 2014 to about 1,46,145 km at current, Gadkari added.

The minister mentioned the size of four-lane-plus NH community, together with high-speed corridors, has elevated by greater than 250 per cent from about 18,371 km in March 2014 to about 46,179 km thus far.

Additionally, the size of lower than two-lane NHs has decreased from about 27,517 km in March 2014 to about 14,870 km, which is now solely about 10 per cent of the NH community, he added.

In keeping with him, the ministry has accomplished varied flagship initiatives, or its sections, that are already accomplished and opened to site visitors to allow ease of motion.

A few of these embrace Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot part (229 km) and whole part in Madhya Pradesh (210 km) of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Amritsar-Bhatinda-Jamnagar (470 km) in Rajasthan, Suryapet-Khammam part of Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam, Indore-Hyderabad (175 km), new Brahamputra Bridge close to Tejpur in Assam on NH-37A(previous), Kaladan Multi Modal Transit Transport Venture in Mizoram, Shillong Nongstoin-Tura part of NH-44E & NH 127B in Meghalaya, he added.
