Govt permits onion exports to Bangladesh, Mauritius, Bahrain, Bhutan

New Delhi, The federal government on Thursday permitted merchants to export 54,760 tonnes of onion to Bangladesh, Mauritius, Bahrain and Bhutan until March 31. “We have now allowed export of fifty,000 tonnes of onion to Bangladesh, 1,200 tonnes to Mauritius, 3,000 tonnes of Bahrain and 560 tonnes to Bhutan with rapid impact,” Shopper Affairs Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh informed PTI.

Merchants are allowed to export this amount until March 31. The modalities are being labored out, he stated.

Singh stated the choice has been taken following a suggestion from the exterior affairs ministry.

At the moment, there’s a ban on onion exports until March 31. The ban was imposed on December 8, 2023, with a purpose to enhance the home provide and test value rise.
