New Delhi: Negotiations for a free commerce settlement between India and the four-nation EFTA bloc are at a sophisticated stage as each side have reached a shared understanding on key points, a senior official has stated. The European Free Commerce Affiliation (EFTA) members are Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland.

India and the EFTA have been negotiating the pact, formally dubbed as Commerce and Financial Partnership Settlement (TEPA), since January 2008 to spice up financial ties.

“Following in depth negotiations, a shared understanding has been achieved on key points throughout the ministerial assembly. Ongoing efforts at the moment are centered on shaping the convergence that has emerged,” the official stated.

Commerce and Trade Minister Piyush Goyal held a gathering just lately with Swiss Federal Councillor Man Parmelin in Mumbai.
