Maize exports elevated by over 28.5 per cent to USD 816.31 million throughout April-January this fiscal, in opposition to USD 634.85 million in the identical interval final monetary 12 months, the commerce ministry stated on Sunday.

Bangladesh has imported maize value USD 345.5 million within the first ten months of the present fiscal, whereas Nepal’s import stood at USD 132.16 million throughout this era.

Maize is the third most vital cereal crop in India after rice and wheat. The cereal crop is primarily cultivated in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.
