India’s internet sugar manufacturing fell marginally to 280.79 lakh tonnes until March 15 of the present advertising 12 months that began in October 2023, in line with commerce knowledge launched on Monday. Sugar advertising 12 months runs from October to September.

In January, the affiliation had projected the gross sugar manufacturing, with none diversion for ethanol, at 330.5 lakh tonnes within the 2023-24 advertising 12 months.

Final month, the central authorities determined to hike Truthful and Remunerative Worth (FRP) — the minimal value that mills should pay to sugarcane growers — by Rs 25 to Rs 340 per quintal for the 2024-25 season beginning October 2024.

“This choice of the central authorities goes to profit greater than 5 crore sugarcane farmers (together with members of the family) and lakhs of different individuals concerned within the sugar sector,” an official assertion had stated.

Sugarcane is grown primarily in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka.
