Potato Imports: India permits potato imports from Bhutan sans license until June 2024

New Delhi: India on Monday allowed imports of potatoes from Bhutan with none license for another 12 months until June 2024. Earlier it was allowed until June 30 this 12 months.

India imported recent or chilled potatoes value $1.02 million in 2022-23.

“Import of potatoes…is allowed from Bhutan with none import license, as much as June 30, 2024,” the directorate common of international commerce (DGFT) stated in a notification.

In a separate notification, the DGFT stated that the import of 17,000 metric tonnes of recent (inexperienced) areca nut with out a minimal import value (MIP) situation from Bhutan may even be allowed by means of LCS (land customs station) Chamurchi (INCHMB).
