Highway ministry goals to assemble document 13,813 km of highways in FY24

The Ministry of Highway Transport and Highways (MoRTH) goals to create a nationwide document by developing 13,813 km of highways within the present monetary yr, its Secretary Anurag Jain stated on Friday. Addressing reporters right here, Jain stated the ministry goals to get rid of lower than two-lane nationwide highways by 2027-28.
The overall size of lower than two-lane Nationwide Highways was 25,517 km in March 2012 (which was 30.1 per cent of the full size of Nationwide Highways).

At current, the full size of lower than two-lane Nationwide Highways (NHs) is 14,350 km (9.8 per cent of the full NH size)

The ministry constructed 10,237 km Nationwide Highways within the 2019-20 monetary yr, 13,327 km in 2020-21, 10,457 km in 2021-22, 10,331 km in 2022-23.

The ministry has constructed 6,216 km of Nationwide Highways as much as December in 2023-24 as in comparison with 5,774 km constructed within the year-ago interval.

Jain additional stated the highway ministry goals to garner Rs 40,000 crore via asset monetisation within the present monetary yr. NHAI and Nationwide Highways and Infrastructure Improvement Company Ltd (NHIDCL) are primarily chargeable for the development of nationwide highways and expressways in India.
