sugar costs: Sugar mills paid Rs 78,000 cr to cane farmers in H1 of 2023-24 season

Whereas the season remains to be on, the mills have cleared 87 per cent of the overall cane cost of Rs 90,000 crore until March 31 of the 2023-24 season, the official stated.

Mills have produced greater than 300 lakh tonne of sugar to date this season.

“Towards the overall cane cost of Rs 90,000 crore for October-March interval of 2023-24 season, mills have already cleared Rs 78,000 crore,” the official advised PTI.

Cane funds are made as per the Honest and Remunerative Value (FRP) of Rs 315 per quintal fastened by the Centre for the 2023-24 advertising season, relying on the restoration charge.

The official additionally stated that sugar mills have cleared 99.7 per cent of the overall Rs 1.15 lakh crore cane dues of the 2022-23 season. Cane dues previous to 2022-23 seasons have been virtually cleared barring these held up in courts.
