India on Wednesday allowed export of non-basmati white rice to Bhutan, Mauritius and Singapore, and allotted export quotas for the kitchen staple.

The Directorate Normal of International Commerce, in a notification, stated that exports of 79,000 metric tons of non-basmati white rice can be allowed to Bhutan, 50,000 tons to Singapore and 14,000 tons to Mauritius.

“Export of non-Basmati white rice…to Bhutan, Mauritius and Singapore is notified,” the DGFT stated in a notification.

Final month, India prohibited the export of non-basmati white rice however stated that exports will probably be allowed on the idea of permission granted by the federal government to different international locations to fulfill their meals safety wants and based mostly on the request of their governments.

The exports have been permitted by way of Nationwide Cooperative Exports Restricted.

India exported $2.2 billion of non-Basmati white rice in FY23 of which $87 million price of the staple was shipped to Nepal and $38 million to Singapore.
