“We’ve got 4G right here however LWE (left wing extremism) areas have 2G connectivity. To supply 4G rather than 2G facility, the Cupboard underneath management of Prime Minister Narendra Modi authorised Rs 2,426 crore for upgradation of two,542 cell towers from 2G to 4G. All these towers are in naxal affected space,” Thakur advised reporters after the cupboard assembly.
He mentioned that indigenously developed core community, radio community and telecom gear will likely be used to improve the cell towers to 4G.
“All these websites will likely be upgraded and run by BSNL,” Thakur mentioned.
The two,542 cell towers are unfold throughout 10 states. This contains 346 websites in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar 16, Chattisgarh 971, Jharkhand 450, Madhya Pradesh 23, Maharashtra 125, Odisha 483, West Bengal 33, Uttar Pradesh 42 and Telangana 53, the minister mentioned.
