The Cupboard has authorised upgradation of 2G cell websites to 4G in naxal-hit areas at a value of Rs 2,426 crore, Union Minister Anurag Thakur mentioned on Wednesday. The undertaking is unfold throughout naxal-affected space in 10 states and the duty has been assigned to the state-owned telecom agency BSNL.

All these towers are in naxal affected space,” Thakur advised reporters after the cupboard assembly.

He mentioned that indigenously developed core community, radio community and telecom gear will likely be used to improve the cell towers to 4G.

“All these websites will likely be upgraded and run by BSNL,” Thakur mentioned.

The two,542 cell towers are unfold throughout 10 states. This contains 346 websites in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar 16, Chattisgarh 971, Jharkhand 450, Madhya Pradesh 23, Maharashtra 125, Odisha 483, West Bengal 33, Uttar Pradesh 42 and Telangana 53, the minister mentioned.
