Amid tensions between Maldives and India, the Directorate Basic of International Commerce on Monday issued a notification imposing port restrictions for export of important commodities to the island nation through the fiscal 12 months 2024-25.

The notification, issued beneath the International Commerce (Growth & Regulation) Act, 1992, incorporates particular situations for exporting important commodities beneath the prohibited/restricted class to Maldives.

Export of important commodities falling beneath the prohibited/restricted class to Maldives will now be permitted solely by means of 4 designated Customs Stations which embody Mundra Sea Port, Tuticorin Sea Port, Nhava Sheva Sea Port (JNPT), and ICD Tughlakabad.
